Fingerprinting

The Frostburg State University Police Department utilizes a LiveScan Fingerprint System. All fingerprints will be done via electronic submission to the Maryland Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Central Repository. In addition to FSU faculty, staff and students, this service is available to the public.

Fingerprinting Hours

Fingerprinting is typically done every other

Wednesday between

8:00 am -12:00 pm

Fingerprinting is done by appointment only.  However, for larger groups other arrangements can be made, call to schedule. Services are unavailable on University Holidays and during University closures.  Appointments MUST be made by calling 301-687-4205 or 301-687-4223

FingerprintFor Fast & Accurate Service:

  1. If you are requesting a background check for employment or licensing purposes, you must have all documentation from the requestor to include the agency name and authorization number.

  2. If your background check is being sent to a government agency you will need an ORI number.

  3. You must bring a valid form of government photo identification (Examples: driver’s license, Certificate of Naturalization, passport, or Military identification.)

  4. Print & fill out the Fingerprinting Application Form ahead of time, making sure ALL fields are filled in correctly and completely. Bring this form with you when you go to your scheduled appointment at the Frostburg State University Police building.

  5. Bring payment as indicated below.

Fingerprinting Service Fees

Service fees must be paid in cash, (EXACT change only), check or money order made payable to “Frostburg State University”.

General Public Fee: $55.00

FSU Student Fee: $45.00


Additional Information

Your hands should be clean, without bandages or broken skin. If you have an injury which prevents you from rotating your arm or wrist, please wait until you can do so. During the winter season or if you have especially dry hands, using water-based lotion prior to fingerprinting can help. Without a wait or exceptional circumstances, fingerprinting should take about 10-15 minutes.
